Canada federal election 2019 strategic overview

Canada’s Federal Election 2019

Burrard Strategy recognized for high-quality content for three winning local campaigns.

“FOUR TOP PICKS” FROM THE 2019 FEDERAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN

Burrard Strategy was proud to support three winning campaigns in the recent federal election.
Our work centred around their digital efforts, including branding, web design, online engagement, advertising, and creative products.

Here are our four favourites.

“The most inspiring video of the 2019 election”
Joyce Murray, Vancouver Quadra

Burrard produced what was dubbed the “most inspiring video of the 2019 Canadian election” by The Georgia Straight.  We told the story of a newly arrived Syrian refugee whose life was left in limbo at an airport for nine months until Canada accepted him.

Against the backdrop of rising anti-immigrant and anti-refugee sentiment, this ad was created to demonstrate Canada’s strong commitment to being a safe haven for refugees.  Hassan speaks passionately about how this commitment continues to make such a huge difference in the lives of so many powerless people around the world.

The “Overnight Turnaround”
Sukh Dhaliwal, Surrey Newton

Burrard Strategy curated a content-heavy digital campaign for the Surrey-Newton MP,  including coverage from the visit from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during the Liberal Party of Canada’s National Day of Action, across the country.

The Prime Minister spoke to a large audience at an afternoon rally and then knocked on doors with Sukh Dhaliwal and volunteers throughout the riding, including a longer visit with a Surrey family.

Burrard produced a number of communications products from this visit, but the most important was this video, which was produced overnight in less than 12-hours.  It was posted and distributed on social media channels by 7 am the following day.

The content created from Trudeau’s visit ended up being amongst the most popular online, with 10-second versions boosting engagement with younger voters on Instagram.

“The Newcomer”
Patrick Weiler, West Vancouver Sunshine Coast Sea to Sky country

An incredibly talented and intelligent professional, Patrik Weiler was officially chosen as the candidate less than 3 months prior to the election.  At Burrard Strategy, we were tasked with helping this newcomer to politics illustrate his life story and grow awareness around his subject matter expertise of climate change and environmental sustainability.

Weiler’s digital campaign was created and mobilized in less than 2 weeks.  He was elected as a new Member of Parliament.

“The Former Boss”
Jean Chretien in BC

Former Prime Minister Jean Chretien came to British Columbia to lend a hand to the Liberal campaign. He spoke throughout the Lower Mainland, and Burrard Strategy was there in Surrey to capture his speech in a short video format with the aim of inspiring the Liberal Party’s volunteer base.  He reminded Liberals why they are Liberals. This piece received significant organic reach on Twitter.
